Three different composers succeed in creating a totally different colour palette with the same means - clarinet, horn, string trio and piano ! "Shadow and Darkness - the Evening of the Deluge" for sextet by F. Neyrinck literally evokes the play of light and shadow in a painting of W. Turner.
K. Penderecki scarcely devotes his composer talents to the writing of great chamber music. His sextet, written in 2000, is thus a unique piece in his work, and maybe constitutes the first masterpiece of the 21th century. At the hinge of two centuries, D. Shostakovitsj seems to be looking over Penderecki's shoulder, while E. Dohnanyi builts his work on the heritage of J. Brahms.

W.A.Mischung confronts the chamber music of the Viennese classicism with the young contemporary Belgian composers.
Where in Mozart and Haydn attention is focused on melody, Daan Janssens and our resident composer Frederik Neyrinck wander in a world of subtle tones. And yet the music of the 18th century's Vienna is not so far from the contemporary music. Mozart and Schubert, among others, were also ahead of their times because of their search for new possibilities for different musical parameters. Their search for melody and form can be compared with what those young composers are undertaking today in the fields of timbre and colour.
W.A.Mischung vouches for an audacious dialogue between yesterday and today, during which well-known masterpieces smoothly alternate with new compositions.
